Linda Curtin Memorial Scholarship

Linda Curtin Memorial Scholarship
The Curtin family is no stranger to District 228 or the Southland area. Linda and Dennis Curtin raised five children who all graduated from District 228's Bremen High School located in Midlothian. Dennis Curtin worked in the district for 30 years and served at three of the four district schools. Today, two of his sons follow in his footsteps where they serve as Deans at Bremen High School and Hillcrest High School located in Country Club Hills. If that doesn't prove the family roots, two siblings married District 228 graduates.

While Linda Curtin never worked in the district, she raised five loving children; Brian, Dave, Jim, Mary, and Kevin. At the same time, she was actively involved in the local community and made an impact on many.

Although Linda Curtin sadly passed away 25 year ago, her 46 years of positivity and care for others has not been forgotten. Today, her impact continues. In honor of her kindness, the Curtin family has established the Linda Curtin Memorial Scholarship for District 228 students.

The scholarship will be available for students during the 2020-2021 school year and will be awarded to one student from each District 228 school (Bremen, Tinley Park, Hillcrest, and Oak Forest High Schools).

The Curtin family says they "are eager to give back to a community that has given them so much" and have already started raising funds for the scholarship.

So far, over $20,000 has been raised, and the number continues to grow as Dave Curtin, Dean at Bremen High School, recently ran 138 miles across the Southland in support of the scholarship.
